Doomie, the PTB are going to burn the bourse down if the Donald is thrust into the Emperorship.

Hey Doomie --

Do you know Foster Books, 183 Chiswick High Road?

I just today received a very nice copy of Hume's Enquiries from them.

Good shop, I hope to visit it one of these days.

I wouldn't have thought of you as a Humian CG.

No, I've been very Continental lately.

But revisiting Thomas Hobbes a few months back has made me want to re-read David Hume as well. And I was always a fan of Adam Smith's Theory of Moral Sentiments. Edward Shils admired that book.

Are you a fan of Thomas Paine's, The Age of Reason?

christiangustafson said...

I read it a couple of decades ago.

Everything from the 18th Century is worth reading, such a remarkable period.

If you really want to come over to the darkside, check out John Gray's books. This one in particular.

It looks like Gray's book, and his intellectual evolution over the past few decades, would dovetail nicely with Spengler's DOTW thesis.

The Faustian impulse is dead in Gray now.

Concerning the quality of mastery, and of poise in trying situations, I believe that it arises more from hereditary than environmental considerations. Its possession cannot be acquired through the culture of the individual, although the systematic culture of a certain class during many generations undoubtedly tends to bring out such strength to a degree which will cause that class to produce a higher average of dominant individuals than an uncultivated class of equal numerical magnitude.

Indeed - that is what current genetic research indicates. Thugs produce.... THUGS.

Let Me Ride

How is that working out for a society based upon high technology and increasing complexity?

The Olduvai Theory:

Sliding Towards a Post-Industrial Stone Age

In 1989, I concluded that the life-expectancy of Industrial Civilization is horridly short. This hypothesis was defined in terms of a measurable index, world energy-use per person, and named the "transient-pulse theory of Industrial Civilization." I sketched its maximum point at 1990,

followed by a persistent decline.

Straight Outta Compton -

And right back to the Stone Age, and Cavemen!

*BONUS VIDEO* Caveman with (hottie) Barbara Bach (yes, HER!) and Ringo Starr! But that is Hollywood and won't be reality.

Enjoy.

T. Berry, where are you? By now you should be making us aware that it is the first day since December 31 1999 that the Dow, Nasd, and S&P all made new all time highs on the same day!!!

Of interest for Wisconsin Ex-Pats:

UPDATE: Federal court orders release of Steven Avery's nephew

MADISON — A federal court in Wisconsin on Friday overturned the conviction of a man found guilty of helping his uncle kill Teresa Halbach in a case profiled in the Netflix documentary "Making a Murderer."

The U.S. District Court in Milwaukee overturned Brendan Dassey's conviction and ordered him freed within 90 days unless prosecutors decide to retry him. A spokeswoman for the state Department of Justice, which was handling the case, did not immediately return a message seeking comment.

Magistrate Judge William Duffin said in Friday's ruling that investigators made false promises to Dassey by assuring him "he had nothing to worry about."

Well, of course, "He Had Nothing To Worry About: - since the Murder was set up by Manitowac County Oficials in the first place....

There is a third possibility:

“Evil Empires: One down, one to go…”

NO TREASON - The Constitution of No Authority - by Lysander Spooner.

Are you a Voter - or Non - Voter? Only Voters submit ballots to elect the Rulers to which they submit.

Who did you elect today? WHO RULES YOU?

Ancient and old wisdom:

1. In the very nature of things, the act of voting could bind nobody but the actual voters. But owing to the property qualifications required, it is probable that, during the first twenty or thirty years under the Constitution, not more than one-tenth, fifteenth, or perhaps twentieth of the whole population (black and white, men, women, and minors) were permitted to vote. Consequently, so far as voting was concerned, not more than one-tenth, fifteenth, or twentieth of those then existing, could have incurred any obligation to support the Constitution.

At the present time, it is probable that not more than one-sixth of the whole population are permitted to vote. Consequently, so far as voting is concerned, the other five-sixths can have given no pledge that they will support the Constitution.

....

The ostensible supporters of the Constitution, like the ostensible supporters of most other governments, are made up of three classes, viz.: 1. Knaves, a numerous and active class, who see in the government an instrument which they can use for their own aggrandizement or wealth. 2. Dupes--a large class, no doubt--each of whom, because he is allowed one voice out of millions in deciding what he may do with his own person and his own property, and because he is permitted to have the same voice in robbing, enslaving, and murdering others, that others have in robbing, enslaving, and murdering himself, is stupid enough to imagine that he is a "free man," a "sovereign"; that this is "a free government"; "a government of equal rights," "the best government on earth,"¹ and such like absurdities. 3. A class who have some appreciation of the evils of government, but either do not see how to get rid of them, or do not choose to so far sacrifice their private interests as to give themselves seriously and earnestly to the work of making a change.

STOP and think about it - although to do so might make you The Most Dangerous Man In The Empire.

Until then, Listen to Fools, and The MOB RULES.

Ain't that a shame! Gotta kow-tow to some elected asshole.

Can anyone make sense of what Caldero is up to? He's suggesting we may be entering a NEW multi-year bull market! He says this about fundamentals "Just think back to August 2009. Did the fundamentals then support a 6-year bull market that would triple from the SPX 667 low?" Umm, perhaps the PE then had something to do with the trajectory?

Besides the 426 HEMI - the 440 Wedge was one of my favorite muscle car motors.

It appears that Chiraq (formerly known as Chicago) just reached another milestone, which I would like to share.

Stats courtesy of HEY JACKASS!

Shot & Killed: 399
Shot & Wounded: 2205
Total Shot: 2604
Total Homicides: 440

Given the wounded to kill ratio - either the Gangbangers need to brush up on their shooting skills, or the advances in medical procedures has outpaced the damage caused when hot lead enters a body.

"Total Shot: 2604" "Shot & Killed: 399" Someone get these fine young men some target practice. Those kill shot stats are a disgrace!

I note that Drudge is playing it up a bit too much, using Alex Jones as a source:

WHITES HUNTED FOR BEATDOWNS - MILWAUKEE's NIGHT OF SHAME

If you're LOCAL - you already know where you can go - and not - and if you're White and trapped in that area - you maintain a low profile. The Only White people they found were the idiots out rubbernecking and hoping to see the looting and burning.

2 years ago was the last time I was in Downtown Milwaukee - and it was eerie - largely deserted and empty. Lots of abandoned and empty buildings. As for the Northside - you just don't go there. They're hunting for Whites because there aren't any - and those who run the liquor stores and gas stations are all EB-5 Immigrants. That's where you get all your Indians, Paki's and other Middle Eastern People from - those who will operate in ghetto neighborhoods. See: First Pathway Partners

Hence, you get stuff like the Riverside INN in Racine, WI - the local politicians don't want to offend the Indian owners who came to Wisconsin via First Pathways - but they operate just like they did in Dirty Filty India.

THUS: Commentary by Mayor John Dickert: City working hard to correct Riverside Inn problems

What a shame too - because many of those Northside Milwaukee dilapidated homes there were once magnificant. Milwaukee is still a heavy drinking town - and you will find that most homes have Bars in the basement - often with a Kelvinator, to which has a Beer keg tap has been added.

I have to agree:

"Those kill shot stats are a disgrace!"

The heat is still on and there enough hot days of Summer left to improve the kill ratio before Winter shuts down the Ghetto Olympics.

ken i'm in for the long term. no plans to sell for at least a minimum of 10 years. if the mkt does go down remember it always comes back. no need to run. hope to see you around long term too :)

this secular bull market still has quite a ways to go. there are plenty of new lnsb ahead of us : )

And then there is this.

Deagel.com, the mysterious website that predicted a 78% lower US population by the year 2025 than now, has suddenly lowered it's population forecast for the US in 2025 by another 4 million, bringing the total number of Americans who are here now but not expected to be here in 10 years to 254 million people.
...

The collapse of the Western financial system will wipe out the standard of living of its population while ending ponzi schemes such as the stock exchange and the pension funds. The population will be hit so badly by a full array of bubbles and ponzi schemes that the migration engine will start to work in reverse accelerating itself due to ripple effects thus leading to the demise of the States. This unseen situation for the States will develop itself in a cascade pattern with unprecedented and devastating effects for the economy. Nevertheless the death toll will be horrible. Never in human history were so many elders among the population. In past centuries people were lucky to get to their 30s or 40s. The American downfall is set to be far worse than the Soviet Union's one. A confluence of crisis with a devastating result.

Did this website predict the 2008/09 crash in the economy?
